Nationals help seniors secure work in regional areas

The NSW Nationals Senator, Fiona Nash, says a Liberal-National Government will help older people in regional areas get work.

“A Liberal-National Government would pay employers $3250 to hire workers aged over 50 years,” Senator Nash said.

“The incentive scheme targets those who are registered with Centrelink and would offer them full time work for six months, starting mid next year.”

“This will give many older people a good start in securing permanent employment and financial security in their retirement. And it would help boost productivity.

“The plan will especially help older people in regional and rural areas where employment can be difficult to secure.”

Senior Australians have worked hard, paid their taxes and helped build our nation. But they’re feeling the pinch from higher living costs.

“That is why a National-Liberal Government would introduce further assistance, such as introducing the indexation of the eligibility income thresholds for the Commonwealth Senior Health Card.

“This will make sure card holders who maintain their incomes in real terms will continue to be eligible for various discounts.

“And we’d abolish the Superannuation Guarantee age limit which will mean any worker can receive contributions from their employer, regardless their age.”
