The New South Wales Nationals Senator, Fiona Nash, says the Coalition would help to secure export opportunities for regional businesses.
If elected, a Liberal-National Government would increase the cap on the Export Market Development Grants scheme to $200 million dollars, from next July.
“Under the scheme, exporters are reimbursed for the cost of specific export promotion activity so they can access vital export markets,” Senator Nash said.
“It helps hundreds of small to medium sized exporters, many which are based in regional areas.”
Yet the Labor Government progressively slashed the funding.
“Today’s announcement by the Nationals’ Leader and Shadow Trade Minister, Warren Truss, demonstrates our commitment to regional businesses.
“By keeping them strong, regional and rural communities stay strong too.”
