Local Champion will be missed in Parliament

Senator Fiona Nash, Deputy Leader of the Nationals in the Senate, has paid tribute to retiring Federal Nationals Member for Riverina Kay Hull following her valedictory speech.

Senator Nash described her colleague as a local champion for her community and a tremendous fighter for the people she represented.

“One of the many things I admire so much about Kay has been her commitment to her electorate.

“Kay has a reputation as a fighter and someone who would always stand up for regional Australia and the people of the Riverina at all costs.

“Kay is a true National, someone who stands for action locally and getting the best deal for her constituents and community.

“Kay’s valedictory today was more evidence that Kay entered the parliament to get a better deal for the people of the Riverina and she has achieved that both in Government and Opposition.

“Kay made an outstanding contribution to the former Coalition Government and was instrumental in many of the former Government’s major initiatives.

“Kay has had a long period of serving her community as a Wagga City Councillor, Deputy Mayor and over 12 years of impeccable service as the Federal Member for Riverina.

“Her colleagues in Canberra hold her in the highest regard and we thank her for her passion and dedication to the National Party, and for her untiring commitment to the people of the Riverina.
