Senator Fiona Nash, Deputy Leader of The Nationals in the Senate, will tomorrow launch Stage 3 of her regional and coastal “Talk to me Tour” of New South Wales.
Over the coming week Senator Nash will visit Orange, Molong, Cudal, Forbes, Parkes, Peak Hill, Dubbo, Gilgandra, Narromine, Warren, Nyngan, Cobar, Hillston, Lake Cargelligo, Condobolin and West Wyalong.
Senator Nash travelled extensively up through the New England region and back down through northern and coastal New South Wales throughout April and May.
“My talk to me tour will provide people living in regional areas with the opportunity to talk to me to discuss the issues that are affecting them and their families.
“The central and western areas of New South Wales have terrific representation federally through their Nationals MPs John Cobb and Mark Coulton.
“It is very important to me in my role as a Nationals Senator to have a clear understanding of issues concerning people in their local communities.
“I am expecting many issues to be raised, including health, education, infrastructure, telecommunications, the environment and the rising cost of living. As well as the more controversial issues surrounding the Rudd Government’s big new tax on mining and their big spending big taxing budget.
“As I travel around the state it is becoming increasingly clear that the Rudd Labor Government simply doesn’t understand the needs of our regional communities, and is continuing to ignore issues that are vital for people living in those areas.
“The tour is about listening to the people of regional New South Wales so that the Nationals can effectively represent their voices and concerns in the Federal Parliament.
“The Nationals are for regional Australia and the families and businesses that live and work in those communities.
“I hope the people of regional Australia will take the opportunity to share their views with me. It is people at the local level who have the greatest understanding of the needs of their local communities, and I’m looking forward to hearing from them,” Senator Nash said.
