Nash “Talk to me Tour” visits Tamworth

Senator Fiona Nash, Deputy Leader of The Nationals in the Senate, will today visit Tamworth and meet with local small businesses and residents as part of her regional and coastal “Talk to me Tour”.

After launching the state-wide tour yesterday in Gunnedah, Senator Nash will today continue touring and listening to the communities of Tamworth and Armidale.

“My talk to me tour will provide people living in regional areas such as Tamworth with the opportunity to talk to me to discuss the issues that are affecting them and their families.

“It is very important to me to have a clear understanding of the issues concerning people in their local communities and regions.

“Tamworth is a beautiful part of the New England and is home to many proud rural and regional Australians and since becoming a New South Wales Senator back in 2004 I have enjoyed every visit I have had to this great part of the State.

“I am expecting many issues to be raised, including health, education, infrastructure, telecommunications and the environment. It is becoming increasingly clear that the Rudd Labor government simply doesn’t understand the needs of our regional communities, and is continuing to ignore issues that are vital for people living in those areas.

“Tamworth is a very important region with so many unique issues close to the hearts of people who call Tamworth home. It’s one of many regions that the Coalition takes very seriously and stands up for.

“I hope the people of Tamworth will take the opportunity to share their views with me. It is people at the local level who have the greatest understanding of the needs of their local communities, and I’m looking forward to hearing from them,” Senator Nash said.

“I am very pleased to be in Tamworth and I will be out and about and listening and taking the local issues back to Canberra where rural and regional Australia has a strong voice in The Nationals.

Over the coming weeks in Stages 1 and 2 the Senator will visit a range of regional towns including Gunnedah, Tamworth, Armidale, Glen Innes, Tenterfield, Tweed Heads, Ballina, Lismore, Casino, Grafton, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.

Dear Sir,
Re; MURRUMBIDGEE VALLEY WATER FORUM at GRIFFITH TONIGHT, Wednesday 21st April 2010,5pm to 7.30 pm.
I have just received a message from Greg Hunt, via Jim Linsay Griffith, that it would've been good if Senator Nash could attend this important meeting.
The late notification is regretted; however, if there was any possibility of Senator Nash being available, it is not too late to arrange a charter flight from either Armidale or Tamworth.
Please reply as soon as practical.
Yours sincerly,
Col Joyce
