Minister Burke To Turn His Back On Rally

NSW Nationals Senator and Deputy Leader of the Nationals in the Senate, Fiona Nash, has called on Agriculture Minister Tony Burke to attend Tuesday’s rally in Canberra to hear the concerns of farmers first hand.

“Farmers are understandably concerned about the future of farming in Australia and they have the right to be heard,” Senator Nash said.

“Mr Burke should not choose to lock himself in his Parliament House office and meet with a select few but should step outside and attend the rally.

“Mr Burke is completely off the mark if he thinks it is only about Peter Spencer and his experience. It is understandable that farmers want to collectively air their real concerns about a number of issues.

“The minister’s reputation for being out of touch with his constituency will be confirmed if he is prepared to turn his back on a crowd of potentially thousands of people who will assemble in Canberra on Tuesday.

“I will certainly be attending the rally to listen to the farmers and their supporters and to hear their stories in person.

“Show us what you are made of Mr Burke and front the rally.”
