Sign the petition, stop the ETS

The Senate is due to debate the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme Bills in the last sitting session of the year, which starts on November 16. It is not too late to stop the ETS and there is a petition on Senator Barnaby Joyce's website which reads

To the Honourable President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled:

The petition of the undersigned shows that we object to Australia adopting an Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and the Copenhagen Treaty as foreshadowed by the Rudd Government.

Your petitioners ask that the Senate reject the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme.

Please sign the petition and circulate it to your friends to sign as well.

The anti ETS movement has just got some traction but we can't give up. It's obvious that chairman Rudd doesn't like ANY opposition and since he won't even try to explain his great need to have it passed one sospects it's dodgy. He must need the money.

Good on you Fiona for your integrity and reason.
Roderick is right - AGW and ETS is an unholy alliance between UN, greens, Left big finance and government for social engineering and rent-seeking.

CPRS has been savaged by all experts, even by Garnot - most cynical and suicidal Rudd scheme that will create a new bigger GFC.

I will support you - I am helping campaign in Bradfeld for an independent anti-carbon tax candidate.

Was talking to a girl this week who worked in treasury for Costello and Swan. She told me she was given the job of setting up the climate control department. The staff were told by Rudd nd his crew what they wanted and the staff then had to devise figures that satisfied the climate control agenda. The informant also told me the cost odf this execise was exhorbitant and she has no doubt it all about fulfilling politicians dreams no matter what the consequences. This persons job was to mke sure she had answers to any questions or scrutiny that may come their way media and other politicians. The whole issue was a well orchestrated propaganda exercise with no real basic fact. A blindfold which the community is now going to suffer dearly from. My fear is that the public service have now lost their independence from making rational verifiable economic decisions that when tested can be validated as to both fact responsible policy.
This being the case the dept of climate control should be dissembled immediately and a judicial inquiry ordered into its relevence and integrity both scientific and financial

Australia's ETS will not reduce the global temperature one bit, but only create more revenue for Big Government by increasing the cost of living for us poor suckers. Don't support an ETS and get all your friends to be part of Fiona's initiative.
Warm regards
Albert

We are a democracy, so why were the general population not made aware of this treaty. Mr Rudd, this is no way to treat the people of Australia, like little childred.
If this treaty is signed, billions of our tax payer dollars will be sent to god knows where and used for god knows what.
The people of Austrails voted for you. This is no way to treat them. All Australians have a right to know how OUR money is spent, yes OUR money. Without the tax payer you wouldn't have a job.

This ETS in my opion is the most dangerous peice of legistation ever devised in the history of the Australian parliament. Global warming is a total pherfy. When one considers how much carbon dioxide is beltched from deep in the oceans of the world into the atmosfeir human contribution pales in content. The world has suffered Ice ages, shocking droughts, floods. and wild weather patterns for centurys, and if Mr Rud thinks a masive tax on the people of Australia in the form of a ETS tax is going to in anyway improve what he thinks is fact then he must also beleive in the tooth fairy. Its hight time Mr Rud started thinking about the welfair of all Australians and put his globe trooting ambitions of ruling the world on the back burner. Bring on the next election.
Sandra.

When is Prime Minister Rudd going to inform the Leader of the Opposition and the people of Australia that he is planning to pledge 7 billion dollars of Australian taxpayers money to third world countries to pay for our pollution of the atmosphere with carbon emissions.
When is he going to inform the Australian people that if the policies that our government puts in place with carbon emissions does not meet the standards of the Copenhagen Treaty that we can be fined millions/billions of dollars?
When is Prime Minister Rudd going to inform the Australian people that carbon emissions is another great big hoax being perpetuated on the people of the world and that there is now scientific evidence to confirm that nothing untoward is happening that has not been happening for a very, very long time. I believe he knows this as he has not spoken of carbon emissions since 16 April 2009!
Carbon emissions is just another one of the hoaxes being played by a handful of people on the peoples of the world. Two more that readily spring to mind are the Swine Flu Pandemic and the Financial Crash!

Malcolm Turnbull has been everywhere today (Radio / TV) saying he supports an ETS and that it is part of Coalition policy. Fiona, you must make a stand. It is time you rethought your intension and ‘delight’ to be preselected to run on a joint NSW Coalition Senate ticket next election.

http://www.fionanash.com.au/News/tabid/62/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/417/Fiona-Nash-Preselected-For-Senate-Ticket.aspx

To share a senate ticket with Turnbull's sell-out Liberals would be a blatant display of you putting your self interest ahead of what the rank and file supporters of the Nationals are demanding. If an ETS is Coalition policy then you have to be honest and embrace it or dissolve the Coalition immediately. I think it is high time the Nationals became the true-blue conservative party in Australia and leave Turnbull to swan around the leafy suburbs of Sydney on his lonesome. I repeat; Anti-ETS folk won't support you if you are sharing the ticket with Turnbull's Pro-ETS senators. Regards Ben

I object to ETS and any treaty being signed in Copenhagen by Rudd on our behalf and urge all Australians to investigate the implications of such a move by this Government. The Free Trade Policy has Australian Manufacturing and Farming sectors on its knees already. ETS will reduce us to poverty level for ever. Jenny Bird

This ETS is an abonamation it is a race to the bottom for Australia, it is also a total hoax and quite simply a grab by big business to rip the savings out of the working class.
The redirection of existing taxes into massive government departments and not to the areas where it is needed is allready a disgrace any new taxes will follow this well known path.
As far as carbon foot prints go I have not heard any government move to convert our coal fired power stations to natural gas, this gas is being sold for a pittence to China instead of helping to relieve the burden on Australian tax payers.
Get rid of this ETS.
Garth.

To all LNP Polititions who are supporting Turnbull's/Rudd's/Wong's position on Ets and COPENHAGEN Treaty. If you continue with this support,You will regret this stand when the next election takes place because no thinking Australian will vote for anyone who would sell Australia out. You, Rudd, Wong & their supporters will be exposed for the self serving Fraudsters that you are. Look at the Evidence & emails which expose the Scientific Concensis as a great Con. Why make Australia the scapegoat for the World when China India and other High Polluting Countries sit back and laugh at the Aussie Fools who are destroying their economy and way of life to feed Rudd & Wongs egoes so they can big note themselves at Copenhagen. Why not be honest and declare yourselves as the Liberal National Labour Party and be done with it. I am a life long Liberal Supporter but if you continue to support the Rudd Wong line you will loose my vote and from what I hear the votes of many Thousands of other Voters

Vote no to the ETS!!! Don't sacrifice Australia by destroying our economy, while the other countries sit back and laugh. Compared to them we are but a drop in the bucket and yet we are to be thrown to the wolves to satisfy Rudd and Labor's ego and get some brownie points in copenhagen. Why do we have to be the ones that jump off the cliff?

I find it very interesting that many of the comments made on this site have a number of spelling errors. Could this suggest that the commentators also have limited knowledge in other areas.

Marilyn Vine

Perhaps Bruce that is because in this day and age people no longer write but text each other and have therefore lost the ability to spell and write letters.

Perhaps it is simply because our education system is so lacking that spelling and grammar are no longer even taught in our schools.

Just because a person lack's "education" in your eyes does not mean that they don't understand what is going on around them!

Hi Bruce I will correct my word [ abonamation ] abomination I hope this makes your day, do not rush to judge those you do not know. I was in a hurry and a bad mood to boot also, I trust the message was understood all the same.
One thing bothers me in that there are not more message"s on this site regarding such an important subject.

We have to stop this incideous Tax ,this will destroy Australias economy.
Rudd says that it will not cost us anything.
Then why do it.
Australia is a clean country and we can get better not by adding taxes but by
encouragement and understanding.
the sciences don't agree about the global warming.
Its all a conn to bring in a tax.
