“...time for the Prime Minister to park his 737 in the Canberra hangar...” Nationals Senator Fiona Nash, who has special responsibility for the NSW North Coast, today announced she will join Tweed MP Geoff Provest and hundreds of other locals at the Tweed Hospital rally on 29 November to protest against Labor cuts to hospital staff across the North Coast. “I was appalled to learn Labor is axing 400 hospital jobs across the North Coast including 29 at the already overcrowded Tweed Hospital,” Senator Nash said. “While North Coast Labor MPs Janelle Saffin and Justine Elliot are busy congratulating themselves on the first anniversary of the federal Labor Government, they have done nothing to keep the promise that got them elected: 'Kevin Rudd will fix our hospitals'.” “Instead the North Coast hospital crisis has deepened with these latest Labor cuts, despite Mr Rudd saying before the election in relation to health: 'the buck stops with me'. “It is time for the Prime Minister to park his 737 in the Canberra hangar and keep his expensively advertised promise to fix our hospitals.” “Mrs Elliot didn't even show up at the rally to save the Murwillumbah Hosptial, but I will be in Tweed on Saturday,” Senator Nash concluded.
