“…The only candidate who will stand up for the hospital is Leslie Williams …” The Rudd Labor Government is completely ignorant of the crisis at Port Macquarie Hospital, North Coast Nationals Senator Fiona Nash said today, after a Minister was unable to answer a question on the subject during Senate Question Time. “What action has the Government taken to help build the desperately needed fourth wing – the Emergency Wing - at Port Macquarie Hospital?” Senator Nash asked Minister Joe Ludwig who speaks for Health Minister Nicola Roxon in the upper house. The Minister failed to even mention Port Macquarie hospital in his answer, choosing instead to attack the Nationals. “That,” according to Senator Nash, “proves the Rudd Labor Government has no idea about the NSW Labor-induced crisis at Port Macquarie hospital.” “This is despite the Government being elected on a promise that “Kevin Rudd will fix our hospitals.” “The only by-election candidate who will stand up for Port Macquarie hospital is the Nationals’ Leslie Williams, who is not only a great champion for the region but also a former nurse,” Senator Nash concluded.
