“…Elliot needs to put Tweed youth ahead of her political career…” North Coast Nationals Duty Senator Fiona Nash is demanding Richmond MP Justine Elliot use her influence in the Rudd Government to come good on a $100,000 commitment from the previous government to fund the new Tweed Skate Park. “We announced the funding last year under the Regional Partnerships program, which Labor has since axed citing its impact on inflation and an alleged lack of transparency, Senator Nash said. “However in this case, neither argument holds water. $100,000 will have no inflationary impact on a trillion-dollar economy and the project is clearly worthy or it would not have been approved by the NSW Government and Tweed Shire Council.” “The current situation where Council will make a start on the park in the hope the Rudd Government will come to the party later is completely unsatisfactory.” “Justine Elliot needs to put the needs of Tweed youth ahead of her political career and fight for this money in Canberra Senator Nash said other local grants approved but not formalised by the previous government had been honoured since the election. “The Murwillumbah Business Chamber has just received its CCTV funding from the Federal Government, so there is no logical reason why we can’t have the cash for the skate park,” Senator Nash concluded.
