An exhibition developed by Arts Northern Rivers Inc will tour throughout NSW and QLD thanks to a $42,000 funding grant from the Howard-Vaile Government, announced today by Nationals’ Senator for New South Wales, Senator Fiona Nash.
Senator Nash said the ConVerge: Northern Rivers Touring Ceramic Exhibition will tour a number of areas, from Cairns and Mackay in the north to Grafton in the south, and a number of places in between – all part of the Government’s Visions of Australia program.
“The Visions of Australia program is aimed at helping organisations develop and tour exhibitions such as the ceramic exhibit, which will be launched next year in Brisbane at the 2006 National Ceramic Conference,” Senator Nash said.
Senator Nash explained the exhibition showcases the work of 20 ceramic artists from the Northern Rivers region of NSW.
“The collection – highlighting the diverse influences on the craft in Australia – will tour regional galleries throughout 2006 – 2008 including Stanthorpe, Murwillumbah, Toowoomba, Grafton, Lismore, Coffs Harbour, Armidale, Gladstone, Caloundra, Cairns and Mackay.
“The Government has provided more than $800,000 in this latest round of funding, for the development and exhibition of similar projects around the country – part of a wider commitment by the Howard-Vaile Government to ensuring all Australians have the opportunity to enjoy our rich and diverse cultural collections, regardless of where they live.”
