Senator Fiona Nash’s search to find a new and original Christmas card design is over with the works of two budding young artists chosen to feature on the Senator’s 2007 season’s greeting cards. The drawings submitted by ten-year-old St Mary’s Primary School student Kate Lehane and six-year-old Young Public School student Jack Staff were chosen from among hundreds submitted by students from primary schools in and around Young for the competition to find a fresh and new Christmas card design. “I was so impressed with the standard of all the entries,” Senator Nash said. “From kindy through to year six, all of the drawings entered were fantastic and it was certainly a very hard decision to pick the winning entry. “The standard of the drawings was so high that it was impossible to narrow it down to just one winner, which was why first prize was shared between two students. “I’d like to thank each and every student who entered the competition. All the entries were so creative and well thought out and I think there are definitely some budding young local artists in the making.” The winning entries, along with a selection of 18 other entries are currently on display at Donges IGA supermarket.
