Ten schools in the local area will share in $548,200 in funding following the announcement of successful applicants under Round 2 of the Federal Coalition’s National School Chaplaincy Programme, Nationals Senator Fiona Nash said today. The successful recipients in the Richmond electorate: Terranora Public School - $ 60,000.00 Kingscliff Public School - $ 60,000.00 Sathya Sai Primary School - $ 60,000.00 St Joseph's Primary School - $ 60,000.00 Alstonville High School - $ 38,200.00 St Joseph's Primary School - $ 30,000.00 Mount St Patrick Primary School - $ 60,000.00 St James Primary School - $ 60,000.00 St Joseph's College - $ 60,000.00 Mount St Patrick College - $ 60,000.00 Senator Nash said today’s announcement brings the total approved funding nationally to date for chaplaincy services under the programme to $146 million. “The National School Chaplaincy Programme was announced last year in recognition of the need to help school communities in providing greater pastoral care and overall religious advice and comfort to both students and staff,” Senator Nash said. “There has been an overwhelming response to the programme and I congratulate the local schools that have been successful in securing funding to help in developing strong school communities.” Further information on the National School Chaplaincy Programme can be found at www.dest.gov.au/schools/chaplains Media contact: Julie Siegert 0429 818 600
