Just five months since turning the first sod on construction of the new multi-purpose room and chapel at the Wommin Bay Village, Senator Nash today returned to the hostel to officially declare the extensions open. “It’s wonderful to be back and see the final result of what has certainly been a highly-anticipated project here at Wommin Bay,” Senator Nash said. “This isn’t my first time back here since turning that sod five months ago. I paid a visit to the village with Nationals candidate Dr Sue Page some weeks ago and was amazed at the progress that had been made in such a short time. “Congratulations to all those involved in the speedy completion of this project. I’d like to make special mention of Mavis Gilmore and Ivan MacKay; their dedication and commitment to the well-being of residents at the village is remarkable and I congratulate them on all their hard work, it has certainly not gone unnoticed.” Senator Nash said the project was completed with the help of $46,860 in funding from the Federal Government under the Regional Partnerships programme. “This project has provided Wommin Bay Village residents with a dedicated location at the village to hold a wide variety of activities and events that will serve residents and their families for years to come.” The Regional Partnerships programme continues the Federal Coalition Government’s approach of working with local communities to support their ideas. A total of $261.7 million is available under the Regional Partnerships programme from 2007-08 to 2010-11. Media contact: Julie Siegert 0429 818 600
