Senator Fiona Nash was in Mullumbimby today to officially recognise the contribution the Federal Government’s Investing in Our Schools Programme has made towards enhancing learning opportunities for students at the High School. Senator Nash said the funding, worth almost $128,500 has allowed for the purchase of a range of equipment, from musical instruments to computer equipment. “Education and teaching methods are constantly evolving and the Federal Coalition is committed to ensuring schools in our regional areas, like Mullumbimby High School, can keep pace with this change and provide students with the tools they need to gain a well-rounded education,” Senator Nash said. “The funding contribution we are recognising today will certainly enhance the learning environment at the school and extend the range of learning opportunities that can be offered to the students.” The school received $25,000 from the Federal Coalition Government for the purchase of musical instruments and equipment including microphones, CD and DVD players. The school also received $103,491 for the upgrade of the school’s computer network, the purchase of IT equipment and the installation of air-conditioning in the computer room. In Rounds One, Two, Three and Four, 183 projects in 55 government schools totalling a value of around $5.9m have been approved for funding in the electorate of Richmond. Due to the overwhelming response to the $1.2 billion Investing in Our Schools Programme, the Education Minister has recently announced the extension of the programme, with details to be announced shortly.
