25 schools in the region will benefit from a funding injection worth more than $1.4 million thanks to the latest round of the Federal Coalition Government’s Investing in Our Schools Programme (IOSP), NSW Senator Fiona Nash announced today. Senator Nash, who was visiting the area today to officially launch the refurbished outdoor area at St Joseph’s College, Banora Point – also funded under the Investing in Our Schools Programme – said the latest announcement would help schools in developing 61 projects that would enhance the learning environment for local students. “The Federal Coalition Government recognises the importance of providing schools with facilities that will enhance the education and wellbeing of students and the Investing in Our Schools Programme does just that, delivering much needed projects to school communities,” Senator Nash said. “The opening today of the renovated outdoor area here at St Joseph’s, made possible with a $46,000 grant, is a perfect example of the projects that have been made possible through this programme; projects that have been identified within the school community as being critical for students both now and into the future.” The Federal Coalition’s Investing in Our Schools Programme provides a massive $1.2 billion in total to schools around Australia, $827 million of which will help state government schools fund small scale infrastructure projects identified and prioritised by school communities. A total of $354 million will be provided for non-government schools over the life of the Programme.
