FEDERAL COALITION GOVERNMENT INVESTS $128,000 IN COWRA PUBLIC SCHOOL

Nationals Senator Fiona Nash was in Cowra today to join with students and teachers from the Public School to celebrate the completion of a variety of projects funded by the Federal Coalition Government to maximise the learning potential of all pupils. Senator Nash said Cowra Public School received $128,720 under the Investing in Our Schools Programme which the school has spent on purchasing equipment including smart boards with wireless laptops and accessories, air-conditioning, blinds and sheltered outdoor areas. “The funding has enabled the school to enhance the learning experience for students in the local area which is fantastic,” Senator Nash said “As technology progresses, schools are embracing new and innovative teaching tools and methods. Students here in Cowra can certainly have access to this sort of learning experience thanks to the purchase of new IT equipment. “The funding has also enabled the school to refurbish infrastructure including indoor and outdoor areas ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for students – both during classes and at playtime.” The school used the funding from the Federal Coalition Government for the: 1. Purchase of interactive smart boards, wireless laptops and accessories; 2. Installation of air conditioning for auditorium and multi-purpose areas; 3. Installation of blinds in all classrooms; 4. Refurbishment of craft room and wet area including floor coverings, painting and storage; 5. Remodeling of The Zoo, a sheltered outdoor area including shade structure, non slip painted paving and furniture; 6. Purchase of transportable floor coverings for the auditorium; 7. Purchase of additional home reading resources; and 8. Landscaping and paving in the infants area. The Federal Coalition’s Investing in Our Schools Programme provides a massive $1.2 billion in total to schools around Australia, $827 million of which will help state government schools fund small scale infrastructure projects identified and prioritised by school communities. A total of $354 million will be provided for non-government schools over the life of the Programme. Media contact: Julie Siegert 0429 818 600
