NSW Nationals Senator Fiona Nash was in Armatree today to officially open the new-look CWA hall in the village. Senator Nash was joined by a number of local residents and distinguished guests for the unveiling of the hall’s extension and upgrade which was funded in part by the Federal Coalition Government’s Regional Partnerships programme. In unveiling the revamped hall, Senator Nash said the project was the perfect example of what can be achieved by rural communities committed to the sustainability of their region. “The hall is obviously a very important piece of infrastructure for the community here in Armatree and I congratulate all involved in making this project such a great success,” Senator Nash said. “The extensions and upgrade will ensure the sustained and increased use of the hall by the local community, especially the local branch of the Country Women’s Association, the members of which have been instrumental in bringing this project to life.” Senator Nash said more than $19,000 funding from the Federal Coalition Government under the Regional Partnerships programme assisted in completing the extension project which included increasing the overall length of the building, constructing a separate kitchen and food preparation area, a covered patio, a disabled toilet and a ramp allowing for disabled access. “I’d like to also acknowledge the financial support provided by Gilgandra Shire Council, the Graincorp Foundation and the Country Women’s Association of New South Wales,” Senator Nash said. Since it was launched in July 2003, over 1100 community generated projects have been approved under Regional Partnerships. In that time, $248.6 million has been spent by the Federal Coalition Government through Regional Partnerships to support communities throughout Australia. Media contact: Julie Siegert 0429 818 600
