CARGO HALL FACELIFT COMPLETE

NSW Nationals Senator Fiona Nash visited Cargo today to officially launch the Cargo Community Hall refurbishment project. In addressing the crowd gathered for the occasion, Senator Nash praised the local community for their dedication to the project, completed with the help of a $22,000 grant from the Federal Coalition Government under the Regional Partnerships programme. “It’s a pleasure to be here today to officially mark the completion of a project that has given new life to such an important landmark here in Cargo,” Senator Nash said. “In smaller towns and villages like Cargo, the local hall is usually the location for a range of community activities; from playgroups, to sporting presentations and school concerts, the hall is often the focal point for many gatherings, and to have it restored and once again ready for use is a great achievement.” The project, undertaken by the Cabonne Shire Council, involved replacing the exterior façade, mending and upgrading the interior walls and upgrading the playground and kitchen area to meet with Occupational Health and Safety standards. The barbeque area was also replaced, including a new shelter and seating. “The revamped hall now has better facilities and is once again family friendly with the upgraded playground and barbeque area,” Senator Nash said. “Congratulations to all those involved in seeing this project though, including the community groups who offered financial support including Cabonne Shire Council, Cargo Progress Association, Cargo Football Club, Cargo P&C and Cargo Community Centre Association.” The Regional Partnerships programme continues the Federal Coalition Government’s approach of working with local communities to support their ideas. A total of $270.5 million is available under the Regional Partnerships programme from 2006–07 to 2009–10.
