Senator Fiona Nash, Deputy Leader of The Nationals in the Senate, will tomorrow launch her regional tour of NSW, starting with the New England area and then travelling extensively through the north coast of NSW.
Over the coming weeks in Stages 1 and 2 the Senator will visit a range of regional towns including Gunnedah, Tamworth, Armidale, Glen Innes, Tenterfield, Tweed Heads, Ballina, Lismore, Casino, Grafton, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.
Further stages are planned for central, western and southern New South Wales.
“My
will provide people living in regional areas with the opportunity to talk to me to discuss the issues that are affecting them and their families. It is very important to me to have a clear understanding of issues concerning people in their local communities.
“I am expecting many issues to be raised, including health, education, infrastructure, telecommunications and the environment. It is becoming increasingly clear that the Rudd Labor government simply doesn’t understand the needs of our regional communities, and is continuing to ignore issues that are vital for people living in those areas.
“I hope the people of regional Australia will take the opportunity to share their views with me. It is people at the local level who have the greatest understanding of the needs of their local communities, and I’m looking forward to hearing from them,” Senator Nash said.
