The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme has been dealt a mortal blow and Australians have been spared from a massive new tax that was going to do nothing to help the environment.
Senator Fiona Nash, Deputy Leader of the Nationals in the Senate and NSW Nationals Senator for NSW, said the Senate vote against this massive new tax was led by the people of Australia who had listened to The Nationals.
“We have been telling people all over Australia that rather than being a plan to save the environment this Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme was simply a new tax that would bring billions of dollars into government coffers.
“The only winners in this scheme were the bankers, brokers and traders who were looking forward to making huge profits on the churn of carbon permits.
“The Nationals have said from day one that this scheme was not going to make any difference to the temperature of the globe and was not going to cut carbon dioxide levels by any discernible measure. The Climate Change Minister, Senator Penny Wong, was unable to answer when asked during the debate to give details of the expected changes.
“For Australia to act before the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference was folly, only to suit the Prime Minister’s vanity.”
Senator Nash said the defeat of the passage of the bills was the right decision for all Australians.
“This is a win for common sense, a win for working families, a win for farmers, a win for pensioners and a win for everyone.

Im so glad this horrible carbon tax bill has been defeated. ill never ever vote labour ever again. i expected green technology like heaps of solar panels and wind mills and other high tech renewable energy not the heavy tax burden the government is trying to ram through. i dont want this crap Rud is forcing onto us. go away Rud please just stop being such a sicialist dictator. hes way or the high way thats all we ever get from him. and its so sad to see the media pounce so hard on Malcom Turnbul he is a leader i really respected because he defended our free market something rudd refuses to do. this country needs to resepct our wonderful and most beautiful free market society. governments do not creat they take. the market creats and the government takes from it. anything the government creats is inefficient and wasteful. i work for the government and i see the waste and destruction of tax payers money. the more free market the better. and the less Rudd the better too. thank you Fiona Nash for defending us today i heard you on the radio. you are wonderful absolutely wonderful. you defended us from this horrible Rudd TAX. keep up the good work. chow and wish you well...
