Stop The ETS

The response to the Government’s proposed Emissions Trading Scheme has sent my inbox into meltdown. The phones are running hot and the fax is getting a work out as well. Overwhelmingly I am being told that you do not want an ETS as you know that paying a tax will have no effect on the climate.

The Nationals have said from day one that they oppose this ridiculous tax and that they will not support it. Our stand has not changed but the Coalition party room on Tuesday decided to vote for an amended ETS. The Nationals will not vote for it and our MPs and Senators are all doing everything they can to stop it.

You can voice your thoughts by emailing your MPs and your state's or territory's Senators and by phoning talkback radio. You can also add comments to articles on news websites and add your name on the petition to stop the ETS.

The battle will continue tonight in the Senate where the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme bills are being debated. We are due to return on Friday and Monday to fully debate these bills and to vote. Thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support. The Nationals are working hard to stop this massive new tax and will not stop.
